Exploring Cardigan for the first time

Day one began as our bus pulled into the AMC lodge, excitement buzzing through each of the students. As we approached the lodge we dropped off our belongings and headed out to the back part of the yard to play a couple games. Once that was over we gathered our stuff and headed to our groups for our first hike of the trip and day. There were four councilors each one would lead their own group. My group was led by Max, we went by the ping bongs because that's our group trail name we decided on. Our group ended up going to Welton Falls. We would travel as a group stopping by different points to mark down a certain plant or landpoint on the trail. We mostly drew different trees and plants we would come across. Along the way we would find different benches and railings. These are examples of the theme of geography known as human environment interaction. Even the trails themselves are an example of this. All of these things fall under the category of human environment interaction because humans had to change according to nature. The railings: for safety because of the steep ledge and the skinny pathway beside it, benches for sitting, and the trails, cleared out by humans to allow a path around the mountain. We made our way to the path leading to Welton Falls, looking at the view below as we made our way down. We explored the large rocks and logs along the river, with a light sprinkle of rain. Even this is an example of human enviroment interaction because the weather effected how we had to dress. Because it started to rain we had to layer up and put on waterproof clothing. As it began to rain more heavily we hurried back. Our day slowly came to an end as we played cards and ate dinner. Before heading to bed, Mr. Woolner read us a few short stories bringing our first day at Cardigan to a close.
